Advance info
The next local event run by ELO is at Carberry, just south of Musselburgh. Sheila has been working hard getting permission from the seven (so far) landowners involved, updating the map and planning courses.
Registration/starts will be from 1:30 to 2:30 (it is getting dark earlier!). Some of the vegetation differs from what is mapped and so Sheila has planned courses to use the extensive path network. There will be a White (easy and short), Yellow, Orange and Long Orange (not too hard, but much longer – and with some climb).
Come off the A1 Musselburgh by-pass at the junction signed Wallyford and Dalkeith (A6094) and turn south (towards Dalkeith). It’s 500m to the next roundabout: turn left. Enter by the North Drive, signed to Carberry Courtyard. Parking will be at Carberry Tower, by kind permission of the Manager.
Carberry Hill is an interesting place, with remnants of the Hill Fort which was then used by Mary Queen of Scots and her army, so try to allow time to go back up the hill to read the notices and explore the earthbanks and depressions, and the views from the top of the hill.
Well done, Sheila! Looking forward to it.
