Festive Frolic 2012, Newhailes Estate
This year’s event visited the National Trust’s Newhailes Estate between Musselburgh and Edinburgh.
The basic event was a 60 minute score with a bonus if you visted the pairs of controls identified by puzzles.
We hope that looking for the Phot-O sites added to your enjoyment of your visit to Newhailes. When you downloaded the results were nonsense as the units for the letters and numbers had been transposed. Once that was corrected we found that more than half of you identified them all correctly and Davie Frame was the fastest at the Micr-O.
The results include all the bonuses now!

Binning Wood, near East Linton
Our South of Scotland League event was held in the wood whose complex system of rides and clearings was originally set out in the early 18th century.

Prestongrange Mining Museum
As part of the activities for the Open Day there was an introductory Orienteering event using a new map of the area round the museum.
We hope you all enjoyed it.

North Berwick Law
After the previous day’s torrential rain and electric storm, conditions were good for the event. The wind did make progresss in some directions easier than others and the grass seemed particularly lush this year. I wonder why!
The results have taken longer to sort out due to a number of extra puzzles we gave you (two different controls at the finish for example).
Thanks for the courses, Pete, although I am not so sure about my earlier “lack of sadism” comment).

Vogrie Country Park
It sounded as if you all enjoyed Trina’s courses. We were slightly overwhelmed at times with numbers which we think are the highest we have ever had on a Saturday.
