Thanks to everyone who braved the wind and ran the courses which were all on the tough side. Thanks also to the ELO members who helped – especially Neil for doing the SI – and also Trina, Ian and Godfrey and family.
Apologies for the lack of hire dibbers and for the printing error on White course maps. Normal service will doubtless be resumed at Butterdean next month!
Update: Jez Edwards tells us his time on Light Green should read as 44:03 – still the winning time but not such a startling margin.

General Information
Map: 1:5000. This is a new map for 2017. Most of the area was resurveyed for the Scottish Championships Individual day held here and at Gullane in May. Contour detail in the dunes and paths in the woods is much improved over the previous map.

Directions: Car park signposted Yellowcraig at end of Ware Road is accessed from Main Road through Dirleton which is reached from the A198. There is a £2 charge for parking. There is a height barrier but high vehicles can park outside the barrier – the £2 charge still applies.
Registration & Start Times
Registration: This will be from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at the car park. Pre-entry is not available, all entries will be taken on the day. The registration form can be downloaded and completed before you arrive.
Toilets: There are toilets at the car park.
Start and Finish will be close to the registration. Start times will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
Courses Close at 4pm so it is essential that you report to the Finish by 4pm, even if you have not completed your course.

- Yellow (easy)
- Orange (moderate)
- Light Green (quite hard)
White and Yellow will be in and around the edge of the wood
Orange and Light Green will also venture into the dunes and into the rough grassland south of the the car park.
There are still nettles in many areas and even encroach onto the woodland paths – so full leg cover is recommended for all courses.
SportIdent (SI) electronic timing will be used. If you have your own SI please bring it with you. We will have SIs for hire free of charge but there is a £30 charge if lost.

Other Users: The woods and the beach and shore areas are very well used by the general public including dog walkers and families. Please respect their right to be there at the same time as you are orienteering. Please do not enter any out of bounds areas – including the nearby golf course and caravan park.
Dogs: Area is well used by dog walkers so dogs are welcome.
Refreshments
Saartje Drijver’s daughter Saskia will be providing coffee and cakes and hoping for donations towards her fund raising for a volunteer year in Guyana with Project Trust

A comprehensive risk assessment has been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
