Yellowcraig Saturday 28th September 2024

Yellowcraig is a small but varied area with forest, sand-dunes and open grassland to challenge for new and experienced orienteers.

Orienteers of all abilities are welcome to join us on the day when we will have the usual range of courses and also a corridor course for training.

There will be entry on the day available – please come early to avoid disappointment!

Controller’s Report

We are sorry that there was a problem with the first control in Orange for the early starters. We should probably have voided the course and deleted all results, but we thought it was better to leave it – you know what you did.

Other Information:

In the “corridor course”, a corridor is drawn on the map, and the runner aims to be inside that corridor at all times. The difficulty of the exercise can be adjusted by varying the width of the corridor, the terrain, the intensity etc. It is best to use GPS to evaluate the exercise afterwards. The aim is to learn accurate map reading and learn to use features you are not used to in your orienteering and to keep a straight line when navigating.

Hi – I am trying to register for the Yellowcraig event but the registration link is not working. Are you able to send this to my email address below.
Also, I am hoping to bring my 8 year old son along as a first taster and it has been years since I have done any orienteering so just wanted to check this event would be suitable.

    Many Thanks
